Day 10 – Resting Day
After the long distance and a pretty good party I used the cultural day to sleep a bit longer and rest again. The sun was shining again in the afternoon and we made some photos in the park around the event centre.

Day 11 – Relay
The relay of this year CISM was held right in the area around the CISM club in the event centre where usually music and cocktails were the main actors.
I was the last runner in the second team and my team mates were Michi Stroi and Markus Kössler (on of our coaches). Austria’s first team was running with Kerschi, Markus and Bindi.
Both first leg runners did a good race, Kerschi was about 13th and Michi was just a little slower (I didn’t see the result list so far). Markus Lang had a pretty big mistake and ran from control 5 to 7 instead of 6. Only after some minutes were lost he noticed his mistake.
“My” Markus had a very bad day. Richard and he already got a bit ill the days before but still he still decided to run. He really tried his best but also because of his illness he was without a chance to score a reasonable time.
I didn’t mind at all. Now I could run my own race.
After the long season I really wanted to enjoy the last orienteering race for a while and so I did. Even if I had some smaller mistakes and never pushed to the maximum I felt very good through out the race. In the end I finished on the 25th spot with a time of 56 minutes on the last leg which I was happy with.
In the meantime Bindi had a pretty bad race where he missed “at about every control” and the first team finished on the 15th spot which was a bit bad after the 10th place last year in Finland.
The price giving ceremony was dominated by the Swiss and Russian. Both nations showed really impressive results with five medals for the Swiss men and six for the Russian women as well as two for the Russian men.

Days 11/12 – Travelling Days
Right at four in the morning after the closing banquet our travel back home started. More than five hours in the bus, three at the airport in Curitiba, two hours in the plane to Sao Paulo, six hours at the airport, eleven hours in the plan (20 minutes too long), four hours waiting after we missed our connection flight (again), two hours to Vienna and two more hours home.
Somehow I was happy when I was home, on the other hand I really miss Brazil and all the people there a lot. For the next few months I won’t be meeting the big O-family a lot and to experience the hospitality and friendship of the Brazilians will take even longer…

The split analyzer has been modified as if everybody was running the same order as I was running (AB-BA for those who were there as well).
